WITHOUT YOU IS NOT THE SAME

First, especially, I had liked to go with you and to spend it time so well with all of you, but, though it has not been like that, I also had already fun with my family and friends. Well, I have chosen some images that look like to me the sites that were staying a bit for describing (a short summary of them), so let’s see them!

My first image is about Westminster Abbey:

This is one of Britain's finest Gothic buildings; a masterpiece of 13th-16th century architecture. Westminster Abbey is also the home to the shrine of St Edward the Confessor, the tombs of kings and queens, and countless memorials to the famous and the great.
The abbey has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal weddings and occasions, including the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The church is open to tourists from Monday to Saturday with both audio tours and tours led by church officials.
There you have a photo of us in the façade; though we are smiling we wanted to go away inside the abbey to obtain a little heat!!!

Tomb of Anne Seymour, Duchess of Somerset

The second image is about Piccadilly Circus:

Piccadilly Circus is a busy square in the heart of London. It is famous for the fountain that was installed here at the end of the 19th century and for the neon advertising that turned the square into a miniature version of Times Square.

Nowadays, Piccadilly Circus is a tourist attraction in if same, probably consequence of being this one of the most important points of the city, with more traffic and ideally as place of meeting.
We were to -8 degrees when we were there, for Christmas certainly. So, it was a “cold visit”!!!

And the last one is about:

Harrods is London's most famous department store. The luxurious store is on many tourists' itineraries, which come to admire the magnificent interior and enormous selection. They often leave the store with a signature green bag; foreign visitors account for a significant part of the store's sales.

Talking about prices, therefore their prices are quite high in general. Many tourists opt to buy as a gift or souvenir boats of tea, teddy bears, chocolates, other economic articles. We didn´t buy anything for that, it was very expensive! Here, you have link of a video of all Harrods, you must see it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaDxjZ8e0rM

And my questions are:

1~ Did you visit Piccadilly Circus?
2~ Tell us a little bit of history of the Westminster Abbey.
3~ What was your favourite and interesting place from London? Tell us your opinion!
4~ Did you improve your English? I think so!!

  1. Hello class!!

First, I want to congratulate Rubén for his great entry, it's very interesting. I would like that you were there with us when we went to London. I missed you and I'm sure that our classmates missed you during those days too!!

1- Yes, we visit it. It's a very nice place where people enjoy a good time with their friends.

2- Well, the first reports of the abbey are based on a late tradition that a fisherman (Aldrich) on the River Thames saw a vision of Saint Peter near the site.

3- My favourite place in London is Hyde Park because if you are in the city and you want to relax, you can go there and relax near the lake or sleep in the grass.

4- I think that it was a new experience although I think that you can't improve your English in only four days... But you can learn new things about this beautiful language!

    Good night classmates!!

    1. Yes, twice. When I went with my family and also with my classmates. It's one of the most funny places of London in my opinion.

    2. The abbey has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal weddings and occasions, including the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

    3. As I have said in almost all the post... Hyde Park was incredible for me but I also liked visiting Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street, Big Ben...

    4. Well.. As Javi has said you can't improve so much your English in only five days!! But it's so funny and interesting speak with English people because you can learn how pronounce words and their way to speak them. And on the other hand, you not only improve your English pronunciation, you learn culture about them. I liked so much these experiences!

    Good night xx

    3) I liked specially Big Ben because it is beautiful and it is an historical piece that we have to keep for a long time

    4) I was lucky because in the plane to London, next to me in the plane, were sitting a couple of English people. We were talking about some places in Spain and also they explained to me where they lived

  5. Hi class!!

Is a very good post Rubén, and very interesting, I´m was sad because you couldn´t went with us.

2.-The first reports of the abbey are based on a late tradition claiming that a fisherman called Aldrich on the River Thames saw a vision of Saint Peter near the site.

3.- Like Javi, I liked so much the Hyde Park, because is a beautiful and relaxing park, where you can do everything, for example: play football with your friends and go walking.

4.- When we arrived to London, I think that speak english could be difficult for understood the english people, but when you are there you feel that you could talk with everybody and you could understood them. LIke Antonio, in the travel to return I was sited next to an English couple, but they were very boring, because they didn´t talk between them.

Bye class! I see you on Monday!

Another place was Chinatown. I hev seen potos before but you are not ready to see these strange Street with red buildings, dragons and balls over the floor,...

4- As Javi, I think I didn't improve my English, but, as I was all day speaking it, I adquire fluency.

  8. Hi Ruben! Hi class!

Congratulations Ruben! Although you dind't go to London, you've made a great entry. I wish that your days there were amazing as ours :).

Task 1| Yes, we did. An amazing place! It was a part of Times Square (New York) in London.

Task 2| Wenmister Abbey is a Gothic style church. There are lots of tombs there, as Isaac Newton's tomb, Darwin's one...

Task 3| My favourite place was the Tower of London and the Hyde Park. I think that these are of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!

Task 4| I think that when we were there talking in English, on the fourth day of our trip your pronunciation is different. But then, 6 months after, we've lost the bit that we could improve in these few days!

    Bye class! Bye Ruben!
