Decimals, Fractions and Percentages

You already know that you can say the same thing in English, Spanish or French. For example:

  • Hola amigo
  • Hello friend
  • Bonjour ami

The same thing happens with numbers. You can write them as a fraction, as a decimal or as a percentage. Imagine that you have no calculator at all and you have to calculate 16% of 120.

  1. Write how can you make this calculation and 
  2. tell me the decimal number and the simplest fraction expressed by this percentage.
END DATE: Next Friday, February 25th.

    ~ First, we must to make the operation 16x120 and then we must to divide this by 100. Result: 19,2
    ~ Fraction: 192 over 10
    Decimal number: 19,2

    Like we say in class today, we can resolved this operation. 16 is 16, % is /100, of is times 'x' and 120 is 120; this is equal to 16/100 x 120, the answer is 192.
    The decimal number is 19'2, I divided 192 : 100.

    First , we multipled 120 * 16 and after we divide into 100. The equal is 1920 : 100 = 19,2

    - Decimal Number - 19,2
    - Fraction - 192 over 10 or 192 / 10

    Hello!
    1.We must do this operation: 16·120, is equal to 1920 and then, we divided 1920 by 100, and this is equal to 19'2. There is another way to do it: 16 divided by 100 ---> 0'16 and then 0'16·120---> 19'2.
    2.The decimal number is 19'2 and the fraccion is 192/10 and the simplest fraction is 96/5.

    We have to simplefing this, so it is equal to 48/25.

    Or also you can divided 16 : 100 and later you multiplicated by 120, but the other form is more easy.

    I can calculate the promblem without calculator in this way:
    120=100+20.
    16x100+16x20=1600+320=1920
    1920:100=19.2

    These are the operations.
