As
you know, there are many versions about the end of the world. I'm going to talk
about the Maya’s belief. According to
the Mayan calendar, the end of the world will come on December 21, 2012. They
say that there won't be a disaster, but we will live more united to our souls.
Some people say ‘the end of the world will not arrive because the Mayan calendar hasn’t got leap-years’. So, the world’s end should has been seven months ago… I don’t know if it is true or false, but… do you really believe in the prediction of the Mayans? What will happen if it were true? It’s really mysterious…
I want to show you a video where a man says us some things about the supposed end of the world. Click here to watch it.
Some pictures about the supposed end...
Some
Mayans say that the world will end because jaguars will come to kill us, or due
to volcanoes, earthquakes… But the popular version that a Mayan man said is:
‘In the sky there is a shape like a snake; on its side there are symbols of
constellations and in its womb there are signs of solar and lunar eclipses.
From its open mouth, falls a flow of water into the ground. Under the snake of
the sky, the Old Goddess with long nails like claws, she is the queen of death
and destruction. At the bottom, the black head of war and in it two javelins
and a long stick, all of them pointing down...’
- In my opinion, this is a little fantastic. But no one guesses the future, so we can only
wait…
1. If the world really
had ended… What would you like to do before December 21?
2. There are many different versions about it,
can you tell me any of them that you are interesting?
3. Do you know that
Mayan calendar has not leap-years? What do you think about it?
4. Who is the Old
Goddess? Had you ever heard in other occasion?
I hope you enjoy with my post! Don't forget to watch the video please, it is interesting!
For me music is a language, a way to express what you feel through a song.
The life of a musician is something unique. Although most people do not really appreciate us. They believe that being a musician is a profession without future or it's something easy to do. But the reality is that when you are a musician, the music absorbs most of your time, a good musician not only born, but makes! it takes hours, days and years of dedication to become a good musician, it takes discipline and commitment. The truth is that the musician's life is not easy, often reject invitations to parties, we miss birthdays and much more so that you can enjoy the live music. We walk up and down, spent hours standing on stage and play or sing, but we exhausted all that we do because it's what we like, music is our job, our hobby and our passion.
Just think: What would the world be without music? ... Without musicians?
Now I will talk about some instruments:
STRADIVARIUS VIOLINS
Stradivarius violins are the most treasured musical instruments in the world. They are famous for their sound. There are many theories about these violins. Many believed that the varnish used by Stradivarius was made from a secret formula that was lost by dying his creator, but X-ray examinations and spectrum analysis on the surface of the violins revealed that all underwent changes in its structure (especially mango, the tailpiece and strings), and often all that remains of the original work is the same body that was revarnishing periodically.
BUFFET CRAMPON CLARINETS
In 1825 a French instrument maker, Denis Buffet-Auger, established his workshop in the heart of Paris. The name was well known in the music world thanks to the excellent production of clarinets of 13 keys. For years Buffet Crampon is awarded with many awards that attest to the quality of their instruments. Thus Buffet Crampon becomes the preferred brand of the largest institutions and figures on the music scene, as the Paris Conservatory, Concerts Lamoureux Orchestra Toscanini's famous in New York, or soloists of the Paris Opera or the Opera Comique.
VINCENT BACH
Vincent Bach combined his unique talents as a musician and an engineer to create brass instruments with a sound that today is still highly sought after by professionals worldwide. After trumpet part as some of the best orchestras in the U.S., Bach began his career in 1918 as a builder of instruments in 1924 and creates the first Bach trumpets. Professional Trumpeters referred to as the "Stardivarius" of the trumpet, and that inspired the manufacturer to create the brand Bach Stradivarius. At age 71, in 1962, Vincent Bach decides to sell his company to the group The Selmer Company, remain confident that their guidelines to get the trumpet sound preferred by professionals.
THE QUESTIONS:
1- Do you like music? Do you play any instruments?
2- How many Stradivarius violins were made? How many there are now?
3- Which set of trumpets is the most famous? (Vincent Bach brand)
4- How long is the bell of a trumpet?
5- Who created the R13 clarinet? What year?
6- What clarinet is launched in 2009 by Buffet Crampon brand?
Hello ladies and gentlemen! Today I will talk about the Ecce Homo (as you can see in the title).
The Ecce Homo don't was allways this. This is the Ecce Homo before his restauration. Its looks funny!
The real picture was this:
Some people said that this picture is destroyed but, ¿is this really bad? NO because now the church who have the Ecce Homo is receiving a lot of tourist! This picture have parodies and even a wine! I've seen a lot of jokes about the Ecce Homo. More or less like this:
The autor of the restauration was Cecilia Giménez. When the people take the picture she said "I have not finished!". The village where this picture is placed is Borja. And I think that could be funny if I give you a video so, here it is!:
OK now you have to tell me what you know about Ecce Homo:
1- Who is the real autor of this picture?
2- When was this picture painted?
3- When it was restaured?
4- What's the meaning of Ecce Homo in spanish?
5- Tell me your opinion of the restauration. Is a good or a bad idea to remove it?
So, that's all. I hope you enjoyed it and have nice day! Bye!
The famous
book“Guinness World Records” is a book which contains a collection of humans
or any natural thing records. It is the most sell book with copyright in the
world but it is also the most stoled in the USA libraries.
This book
appeared when, in 1951, Sir Hugh Beaver went hunting and his partners and he discussed about the fastest hunting bird in Europe. They thought that a book
could keep the answers to this type of questions. It was released on 27 August
1955.
Some
curious records are:
*The dog
with the biggest ears in the world.
The right ear measures 31, 7 cm and the
left
ear measures 34 cm.
*The
biggest violin in the world. It was created by a musical industry in Vogtlan,
Germany. They created a violin with 4, 2 meters high and 1, 23 meters wide. It
has a 5, 1 meters long bow, ¡seven times more than a normal violin! It takes
three people to play it.
*The women
with the longest nails in the world.
The owner of this nails is Chris (she
receives
the name of “The countess”) and the measure
of the longest nail in the
right hand is 2,88 m,
and in the left hand it measures 3, 09.
*The man
with the biggest number of piercings
in his body. His name is Rolf Buchholz and
he
has 453 piercings in total. Only in his lips he
had 94 pearcings.
* And the
most recent record, which is in the mouth of almost all people at the moment is
the one which Felix Baumgartner stablished yesterday (It would be last Tuesday
but a strong wind prevented it). He set the world record for skydiving from more
than 39 kilometres high, reaching an estimated speed of 1,342 kilometres per
hour. He broke the sound barrier.
For
do this, he worked during five years and he got three of the four records
proposed (be the first person in overcome the speed of sound without mechanic
help, the highest parachute jump and up the balloon to the highest point. He
couldn’t do the longest free fall of the world).
We are talking about this man and what he did, but we don't know the story behind this sucess, it takes a lot of preparation and it isn't a simply jump.
With the words "born to fly" tattooed in his arm, Felix Baumgartner, an austrian man of 43 years old, has always dreamed in jump with parachutes and fly with helicopters. He made his first jump at the age of 16, and his skills improved after joining the Austrian army.
YOU CAN SEE A VIDEO WITH SOME OF THE BEST JUMPS OF THIS MAN HERE
We have seen in class the video of this jump, so I am going to put another one imitating this jump with Lego pieces.
Here are the questions:
1-How many people are needed for play the biggest violin of the world?
2-Can you say me a jump made by Felix Baumgartner which more impression made in you? (Mention another one, not the last one that made yesterday).
3-When was released the book "The Guinness World Records"?
Social networksare influencing in the interaction between teenagers, this causes that less teenagers know how to relate and they hide behind chatting online, this at the same time causes that if they don't know how to relate they aren't going to reproduce so the population is going to decrease.
Social networks is ok if you use it moderately because one good thing that tuenti for example or facebook has, is the events or the groups chatting to go out with friends or go to do sport or a lot of diferents uses that isn't bad for you.
Also in chats online you can use a webcam
that you can see the person who you are chatting with and he/she can see you it causes a lot of problems because if you are chatting with someone that isn't who he/she sais who is, and you can have a big problem.
1- Do you have any social network? Why no?(if the answer is no)
Did you know that about 1 in 4 people in the world had, have or will have a mental disorder? I suppose, that when you see the title of my post, some of you start laughing. Yes, we have to recognise that we make fun of them.So here is my first question: Had you ever mock of this people? Don’t lie; be honest, please. I know you’ll never do it again ;) So, to talk about Down Syndrome (we will abbreviate it as ''DS''), first we have to know why some people have this illness. All start in the mother’s womb. Almost everyone have two chromosomes 21 [we’ve seen it in Biology, but if you don’t remember, I’ll say that it’s a kind of chromosome (it contains our DNA)], but people with the syndrome have three of them. It’s a big difficulty for the body, that starts working at this moment! Some organs are malformed, and here starts the problem. I’ll tell you the story of my uncle, who is 34 years old. My mother always says me, that we are very lucky, because although life expectancy is growing, DS don’t live like us. He is 34. Physically, he’s 70; and mentally, he’s 10 years old. My uncle is the third son in my mother’s family, and obviously the last (my grandparents were scared of having children after him). During the pregnancy, anybody said anything to them. Even the doctors, when my uncle was born, didn’t notice he was a Down Syndrome. My grandfather was very happy, but when doctors give him the notice... He was really, really sad. But do you know what did he do? He was working day and night, during 7 years to save my uncle, because doctors said to my grandparents that he couldn’t live, so they give them... but to die in his house. My grandmother took ill, and my aunt got married. Obviously, my mother became the housewife when she was 13 years old, and she couldn’t study.
Probably you didn’t read the story, or maybe you are asking: why does he tell this? Because I get angry when you don’t want to meet, or talk with someone ill. So remember, that when you mock a Down Syndromeor someone with a mental disorder, you have to think the story of sacrifice behind him/her. Moreover, I meet lots of DS and I can say you that they are lovelier than someone of us. And, now, I want you to watch this video that I’ve made. It contains daily routine and dreams of a girl with DS. Then, you will see some news (real news, obviously) related with DS people. PS: I think it's better to load the video to watch it better.
Their brain work less than ours. Their heart can stop easier than ours. But remember: their soul is bigger.
And now, the questions: · Where does Moira study? Tell me one of her "dreams". · Mention one of the news. What do you think of it? · Had you ever meet someone with DS or a mental disorder? Tell us the experience. · Find in Google another mental disorder and explain us what it consist of. PS: Remember the question I’ve made at the beginning. I hope you like my post!
