THE ECCE HOMO

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Today I will talk about the Ecce Homo (as you can see in the title).

The Ecce Homo don't was allways this. This is the Ecce Homo before his restauration. Its looks funny!
The real picture was this:
Some people said that this picture is destroyed but, ¿is this really bad? NO because now the church who have the Ecce Homo is receiving a lot of tourist! This picture have parodies and even a wine! I've seen a lot of jokes about the Ecce Homo. More or less like this:

The autor of the restauration was Cecilia Giménez. When the people take the picture she said "I have not finished!". The village where this picture is placed is Borja. And I think that could be funny if I give you a video so, here it is!:

OK now you have to tell me what you know about Ecce Homo:

1- Who is the real autor of this picture?

2-  When was this picture painted?

3- When it was restaured?

4-  What's the meaning of Ecce Homo in spanish?

5- Tell me your opinion of the restauration. Is a good or a bad idea to remove it?

So, that's all. I hope you enjoyed it and have nice day! Bye!

  3. Hello everybody!
Congrulations Miguel! Nice and curious thing that you post here. I heard about in TV but you complete the information and it is perfect :)

1)The real autor of Ecce Homo is Elías García Martínez
2)The real picture was painted in 1930
3 This picture was restaured on 7th August
    4) Ecce Homo means "he aquí el hombre". These words were pronuncied by Poncio Pilato when he presented Jesus to the town before his death
    5) I think that it isn´t good because a picture that is in a church have to be serious and representative, it can´t be considered like a funny thing or something similar

    Bye, good night! :)

PD: The posts that actually are in the blog are of a very high quality! We must to continue like now! :D

  4. Hi Miguel! A very good idea to talk about, but in my opinion we must be kindlier with her and the painting... She is an old person, and in an interview she was saying that all of this is 'big' for her, she doesn't like appear on TV. And as Miguel said before, the town council, doesn't allow to her to end the paint, it's profitable for the town.

1| The author of the original painting was Elías García born in a town of Spain, Requena
2| It was painted in 1930.
3| The restauration by Cecilia was made in August.
4| It's writed in Latin, and it means ''He aquí el hombre'' or ''Este es el hombre'' (it refers to Christ).
5| As I said at the beginning of the comment, we have to admit that the painting isn't beautiful... In fact, it's horrible. It's true that it's profitable for the town, but I prefere that it becomes what it was. Mistakes in the history, were corrected, so let's correct this mistake. But as I said before, we must be kindlier with Cecilia. It's also an error by the Church and Town council, which allows to a person without an art career to restore it...

    Bye class! :)
